It all started when…

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced our world to go through major changes. As an artist I feel like I can’t 'turn the page' of this chapter in our history without documenting my experience of it in music. This album is the result of that.”

Eran Har Even is an Edison nominated Israeli guitarist, composer and music educator residing in Amsterdam. On his new 20/21 album Eran blends the guitar in a fresh-sounding formation featuring his long time collaborators Itai Weissman on EWI, Jeroen Batterink on drums and a special guest appearance by vocalist Claire Parsons. Through delicate ear-craft-compositions Eran expresses his experience of the post Covid syndromes.

This trio formation opens a portal to a new landscape of sound, combining the organic with the synthetic and exploring the boundaries of music. (role shifting/switching).

Sound wizard Itai Weissman

With Itai’s EWI (electric wind instrument) the trio opens a portal to a new landscape of sound, The trio combine the organic and the synthetic; x“missing sound link” of music’s evolutionary process.

*Besides being a sound-wizard in the melodic realm Itai's contribution in the band is also in the bass function, which he shares with me.

Together with Jeroen’s unique approach and ability to facilitate both the acoustic and electric side of the band’s sound spectrum they presents a “missing link” of musical evolutionary process.

Rise

Rise was written after the 16th of March 2020 when the WHO announced a global warning about the upcoming pandemic.

This composition represents the rising feeling of an uncertain future.

*Calm before the storm

Begin to Give In

Inspired by my sister’s ongoing battle with dealing Endometriosis: A chronic condition that is hard to diagnose and even harder to treat. During 2020 - 2021 I couldn’t go visit my family and therefore had to support them from afar.

This composition was developed by my old friend vocalist Sanne Huijbregts

Helicopter

Dedicated to the countless hours I spent in my practice space in Amsterdam, (located at the Helicopterstraat) where the concepts to this album came about during the lockdown period.

Negative

Started as an online rhythmic exercise for my solfege students. Negative rhythm outlines the situation where the unheard reveals and becomes an active part of the sequence.

Blues for Frank

Dedicated to Frank van Berkel for giving us THE opportunity

El Toro

Aside from the trio project through the Covid period I felt the urgency to re-visit the music and teachings of the great Wayne Shorter which resulted in a tribute project I named Shorter Days.

Brain fog

Featuring Claire Parsons

A post reaction to the Covid era where many of us feel lack of motivation, energy and positivity.

At THE End

Was composed at once after learning that my friend committed suicide.

I usually take weeks or months to complete an musical idea although this one just came out in 10 minutes.
